Townscapes

I loved making these things. It all flowed with
a glowing liveliness which seemed to stay in
the piece . 25mm

Malachite, ivory (certified), and abalone
with silver and gold. 40mm

Ebony, abalone, ivory, silver & gold. 40mm

Seascapes

Different parts of the abalone shell lend themselves
to the different elements of a scene. 35mm

There's a bit of the shell which is just like the waves.
You can't see in a photo the wonderful light and colour.
It needs to be seen with both eyes, as each eye gets a
different reflection. It creates a 3D effect. 30mm

But I rarely use abalone now. It's hard to prepare
[as is the malachite] and the dust is dangerous
to breathe. 40mm

Doing close-ups in those days was a challenge.
I had to strap a lens on back to front with
rubber bands! Abalone, malachite, etc. 30mm

With ivory... 30mm

Sometimes woods enchant me and I
like to celebrate them in a piece of jewellery.
They seem to know I'm doing it! 30mm

With ebony, snakewood and opal.

Greek

This series expresses to romantic elements of Greece
for me. I often went there and bummed around
on the beaches. Ebony, ivory etc. 30mm
